Klein ISD Rings In the 2026–27 School Year Wednesday, August 12 |
Board-approved calendar locks in mid-August start, 12-day winter break, and a 3% teacher pay raise. |

The first bell of the new school year rings across Klein ISD on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, giving the district's roughly 53,000 students and 7,000 staff a tight, tradition-following mid-August launch.
Trustees formally approved the 2026–27 calendar this spring, sticking with the long-standing pattern of kicking off classes on the second Wednesday of August.
For families, the date means back-to-school prep is in full swing this week. Klein ISD opened its Required Annual Enrollment Update window July 20 and runs it through Friday, August 7, with returning families told to log in at kleinisd.net/update so each student can be assigned a schedule and a teacher before the first bell.
Campus offices are also open from 12–7 PM for in-person help with new-student registration.
The calendar itself brings a few fan-favorite breaks back into the rotation. Students get a five-day fall break, a five-day Thanksgiving break, a 12-day winter break in late December and early January, and a five-day mid-winter break in February. The last day of school is set for May 28, 2027.
Klein ISD also published campus-by-campus Meet the Teacher dates on individual school websites, with most elementary campuses hosting families in the final week before August 12.
On the staffing side, the Klein ISD board approved a 3% pay raise for teachers and full-time TRS-eligible employees on June 8, effective for the 2026–27 year. The board also voted to bump district health insurance contributions by $62 a month beginning September 1 to help offset rising TRS ActiveCare premiums — a meaningful quality-of-life win for staff heading back to campus.
