Spring, Texas is about to get a whole lot healthier.

Sprouts Farmers Market has confirmed a signed lease for a brand-new location in the fast-growing northern Houston suburb, set to become one of the most anticipated grocery openings in the region.

The new natural grocery store will anchor Grand Imperial Marketplace, a sprawling retail development taking shape at the southwest corner of the Grand Parkway and Imperial Promenade Drive.

The project spans roughly 170,000 square feet and brings a powerful retail lineup to a corridor that has seen explosive residential growth in recent years.

Joining the farmers market grocery anchor are national names like Marshalls, Ross, Burlington, Five Below, and Planet Fitness — a mix that signals serious commercial momentum for the area.

For a community that has long been underserved by walkable, health-focused retail, this development feels like a turning point.

The opening is currently scheduled for 2028, and construction activity at the site is already underway, according to officials connected to the project.

Grand Imperial Marketplace sits adjacent to the Falls at Imperial Oaks, a master-planned community spanning hundreds of acres in Spring that has quietly become one of the most active growth zones north of Houston.

A new multifamily development nearby recently broke ground, adding hundreds of residential units to the immediate trade area — a signal that the customer base for this retail center is already taking shape around it.

Sprouts brings a format unlike most conventional grocery chains: an open, produce-forward layout rooted in the spirit of a traditional farmers market grocery experience.

Fresh fruits and vegetables take center stage, flanked by bulk foods, vitamins, supplements, and a wide array of organic, plant-based, and gluten-free products.

That farm-stand philosophy traces directly to the brand's origins — a family tradition stretching back to a small fruit stand in California decades ago, eventually evolving into one of the country's fastest-growing specialty grocery concepts.

Today, the Phoenix-based company operates more than 480 stores across 25 states, with Texas representing one of its most active expansion markets.

The Greater Houston area already hosts several Sprouts Farmers Market locations, and the Spring store — alongside another planned opening in The Woodlands — will push that local count even higher.

The brand's continued investment in this region speaks to just how seriously it views the Houston metro as fertile ground for its health-first grocery mission.

For Spring residents who have watched the Grand Parkway corridor transform year after year, this announcement delivers something tangible: a destination natural grocery store designed around wellness, affordability, and community.

The doors at 5922 Imperial Promenade Drive can't open soon enough.

the bulk vitamins alone are worth the trip, their prices on supplements beat most places

Tom A.Right? Started as a little fruit stand and now they're everywhere. Whole Foods has been doing it for decades too but Sprouts always felt more down to earth somehow.

NancyG_77386Ha, basically. Grab your green juice and your gym bag and you're all set. Whoever planned this layout knew exactly what they were doing.

James WhitfieldThat's usually how it goes. Once they're actually breaking ground you know it's real. It's the ones that just have a sign and nothing else for two years that fall apart.

hopefully they keep prices reasonable unlike some of these other health food places

bekah_northFrom what I've seen at other Sprouts locations the bulk bins and produce are actually pretty affordable. It's the fancy packaged snacks where you start to feel it at checkout.

480 stores and still growing, Sprouts is no joke

we moved to Imperial Oaks two years ago and the lack of good grocery options was the only downside. This is huge news

Sandra KlineWe moved out here around the same time and felt the exact same way. Having to drive 20 minutes just for decent groceries gets old real quick. 2028 feels far away but at least it's coming.

love their bulk section, best place to grab nuts and granola without buying a giant bag

Grand Parkway is already a nightmare to drive on, adding all this retail is gonna make it worse

MikeFromSpringHonestly fair point. That stretch near Rayford is already rough during rush hour. I just hope they plan the access roads better than some of the other developments out here did.

I drive to the one in The Woodlands now so having one closer would be amazing

Sprouts is great but those prices add up fast

dallas_daveTotally agree. I shop there maybe once or twice a month and just grab the produce and bulk stuff. The specialty packaged items can get pricey but the fresh section is actually pretty competitive.

Jake M.Same. HEB is fine but some variety would be really nice. Fingers crossed more options keep coming to this side of town.
