Houston Restaurant Weeks 2026 is officially underway, running August 1 through September 7 — and Spring residents are front and center for the action.
Now in its 23rd year, the beloved 38-day dining campaign features 22 north Houston restaurants spanning Spring, Shenandoah, Conroe, New Caney, and The Woodlands.
Spring diners have three standout options this season: Wunsche Bros Cafe and Saloon in historic Old Town Spring, Sal e Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse in Shenandoah, and Xalisko Cocina Mexicana on Lake Woodlands Drive.
Prix fixe menus are priced at $25 for brunch and lunch, and $39 or $55 for dinner, with dine-in and takeout options available.
Every meal purchased generates a donation to the Houston Food Bank, which has collectively raised over $22 million for hunger relief across Southeast Texas over the event's history.
Reservations are strongly encouraged — especially for popular weekend spots — as availability fills fast once the season gains momentum. Read More... |

Three gun-related incidents in a single week have shaken Klein ISD families in Spring, Texas — including a chilling breach where an armed man in tactical clothing walked into an elementary school through the front door.
The incidents have exposed what parents call dangerous gaps in campus security, prompting a formal petition now carrying hundreds of signatures.
Parents are demanding daily metal detector screenings at secondary campuses, reinforced single-point entry systems, real-time incident alerts within thirty minutes, and an independent third-party safety audit.
The district, serving roughly 50,000 students north of Houston, has responded with expanded police presence, random screenings, and increased K-9 sweeps.
Parents say it is not enough.
Families are also pushing for a parent-led safety advisory committee with direct access to district leadership.
Klein ISD has yet to formally respond to the petition's full list of demands. Read More... |

The Tomball Economic Development Corporation has acquired nearly 29.5 acres of vacant land off Mechanic Street, marking a significant commercial land purchase within city limits.
The strategically located parcel offers direct access to key thoroughfares serving both freight and commuter traffic throughout Harris County.
The acquisition pairs with an earlier purchase on South Chestnut Street, expanding the EDC's inventory of shovel-ready sites designed to attract employers and catalyze private investment.
Both properties are tied to the broader Old Town Tomball redevelopment vision, where legacy land use is being reimagined for a new generation of commercial and industrial activity.
With Harris County projected to grow from 4.9 million residents to over 6 million by the mid-2040s, Tomball is actively positioning itself to absorb regional demand — and industrial land there is becoming increasingly scarce. Read More... |

Darius Gatson has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Klein High School in Spring, Texas, succeeding retired longtime director Glenn Arnold.
The hire is a deeply personal homecoming — Gatson grew up in Klein ISD and starred at Klein Forest under legendary coach Cary Black, helping the Eagles reach the 2008 State Final Four with a 33-4 record.
He later played at Trinity Valley Community College and Sam Houston State University, earning academic honors along the way.
Most recently an assistant at Klein Forest, Gatson brings a relationship-first philosophy and an up-tempo, high-pressure playing style to a program already trending upward.
The Bearkats went 19-15 in 2025, claiming the District 15-6A championship and a playoff berth.
With returning senior guard Jaydon Smith leading an experienced roster, Gatson isn't rebuilding — he's elevating. Read More... |
